Beijing: Sri Lanka denied entry to China’s ‘Yuan Wang 5’ ship in its Hambantota port following objections raised by India. It is claimed that this is a blow given by Sri Lanka to China. It also highlights the strong cooperation established between India and Sri Lanka. Disturbed by this, China has expressed its displeasure. China’s foreign ministry has criticised that meaningless pressure was put on Sri Lanka without directly mentioning India.

But meaningless pressure was put on Sri Lanka in this regard. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin claimed that the ship was coming to the area only for research. Besides, it needed to be looked at rationally. Also, Sri Lanka is a sovereign country and Sri Lanka has the right to cooperate with other countries. China’s cooperation with Sri Lanka is not against any third country. Therefore, it is wrong to put pressure on Sri Lanka in this regard by citing security reasons, Wenbin added.

Along with this, Wenbin has also made idealistic claims that China has always advocated freedom of transportation. In reality, China’s biggest threat to international trade and freedom of movement. But China expects other countries to allow them to move freely in their territory. But India has taken China’s activities seriously in the Indian Ocean region. Due to this, India objected to the planned visit of the Chinese ship ‘Yuan Wang 5’ to the port of Sri Lanka on August 11.
