Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a suggestive statement that India is brimming with confidence and the situation on the border is demonstrating the same thing. China has initiated military withdrawal from the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, after tension that lasted for ten months. Statement of the Prime Minister gains significance, while videos of the withdrawal are being published. The Prime Minister referred to the border’s situation while citing Indian confidence during his address at the NASCOM meeting.

While predictions of decline were being made, the Indian IT sector increased its revenue by $4 billion. This is a very praiseworthy effort. The Prime Minister praised the IT sector, saying that even during the pandemic, the IT sector created employment for millions and proved that it is a strong pillar of Indian development.

Simultaneously, the Prime Minister pointed out that the union government has taken some courageous decisions necessary for the IT sector. The policies adopted by the government for the IT sector are being appreciated. Previously, red lines were drawn for freeing the maps and geospatial data. Warnings that this will threaten the country’s security were being issued. But the government decided to free the maps and geospatial data. The IT sector is deriving massive benefits from this. This makes it clear that India has the confidence and the capability to face its security threats. The Prime Minister said that therefore, this decision acknowledges the increased confidence of the country.

The country’s future cannot be developed with curbs. The Prime Minister assured that the government is hence, taking steps to remove all the unnecessary curbs in the technology sector.

In view of the global Indian identity in the IT sector, the country’s expectation from the IT sector has gone up substantially. The IT sector has also ensured that the majority of the technology is ‘Made in India’. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the technology solutions will show the influence of ‘Make in India’ even in the future.

If India wants to lead the global technology sector, there is a need for research and institutional development. The Prime Minister also delivered a message that the IT sector will have to provide special attention to Institutional development.
