IAF Chief issues stern warning to China

Bengaluru: Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief RKS Bhadauria retorted, ‘If China seeks cooperation from a country like Pakistan to threaten India, it is a disgrace for China. It will be proved that China has lost faith in its might.’ Once again, the IAF Chief asserted that China would not make the mistake of starting a conflict with India. Still, if faced with the situation, India is fully prepared to fight China and Pakistan simultaneously.

The IAF Chief, while having a dialogue with the media on the occasion of the Aero India 2021, expressed his frank stand on the Chinese threat. While answering the question- Will the IAF tackle the mighty Chinese Air Force? the IAF Chief emphasised that this cannot be doubted. He clarified that there is no hesitation in saying that all the three-armed forces, IAF included, have the complete capability to fight China.

Chinese mouthpiece Global Times had even issued such threats. Especially after the conflict in the Galwan Valley, on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, China has started warning to engage India on the Pakistan and Nepal borders. Against this background, the IAF Chief has delivered a tight slap across China’s face.

If China joins hands with a country like Pakistan to supersede India, it will be a disgrace for China. The IAF Chief retorted that if a country which considers itself a military superpower is forced to take help from another country to threaten a third country, it only demonstrates the lack of confidence in its own ability. The IAF Chief clarified that India is prepared to fight wars on both China and Pakistan fronts despite this.

11 Rafale fighter jets have been commissioned in the IAF, and the number of Sukhoi-30 MKI is also increasing. At the same time, the second squadron of Tejas also is getting ready. The IAF Chief expressed confidence that the number of fighter jets in the IAF will only increase in the future. Moreover, the IAF Chief clarified that Tejas’s 30 more squadrons are likely to be inducted in the IAF fleet.

The IAF Chief clarified that currently, tension is prevailing on the LAC in Ladakh. If China increases deployment in the region, India will react in the same way. The IAF Chief said that if China initiates moves to defuse the region’s tension, India will definitely respond positively. Therefore, the IAF Chief pointed out that it depends on China whether to have a conflict on the LAC or camaraderie.

The IAF Chief also recorded a reaction on the provisions for defence in the recently announced union budget. The IAF Chief expressed satisfaction saying that the Indian economy is under tremendous strain because of the Coronavirus pandemic, and an increase of 20% in the defence expenditure, even in this situation, is enormous.
