Aden/Riyadh: The Houthi rebels, who have become aggressive since the last few days, carried out drone attacks on two Saudi Arabian airbases. The Houthi rebels have revealed this information. In contrast, Saudi Arabia accused that the Iran-backed Houthi rebels are consciously targeting civilians. At the same time, Saudi Arabia announced that Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies are ready to protect its citizens.
The Houthi rebels launched at least 8 drone attacks in the last 24 hours. Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesman of the front formed by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies, said that two of these drones were destroyed on Saturday. On Saturday, the Saudi Arabian mouthpiece declared that these two drones targeted the southern Saudi Arabian cities, Khamis Mushait and Jazan.
Colonel Maliki accused that the Houthi rebels are systematically committing war crimes by targeting the civilians. Two civilians were injured in the attack, and one of them is a boy aged 17. Thereafter, Colonel Maliki also issued a warning that the front of Saudi Arabia and the Arab allies were ready to protect the people of Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
Whereas the Houthi rebels have claimed to target the civilians as well as military airbases. Sari, the spokesman of the Houthi rebels, informed that the Abha International Airport and the King Khalid Airbase were targeted with three and two drones, respectively. The Houthi rebels had claimed to have launched a fierce rocket attack on the Aramco refinery project in Jeddah on Thursday.
The Houthis carried out rocket attacks in the Jazan province. Five civilians had been injured in the attack. Before that, the Houthis had fired a Quds-2 ballistic missile into the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh. Saudi Arabia neutralised these missiles successfully with the patriot air defence system. Saudi Arabia has announced that a major mishap was avoided because of this.
Meanwhile, the Houthi rebels have increased their rocket, missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. The confidence of the Houthis seems to have increased, following their removal from the terrorist organisations’ list by the United States. The relations between the United States and Saudi are currently strained. Houthis are taking advantage of this fact and have initiated aggressive moves to target Saudi Arabia. A few days ago, by announcing sanctions against some Houthi leaders, a picture had been created that the Biden administration was taking action against the Houthi rebels. But this has not affected the Houthi aggressiveness.
