Hezbollah could launch 2,000 rocket attacks on Israel every day

Jerusalem – ‘In May, Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip fired 4,400 rockets at Israel at an average of more than 400 a day. But soon, if there is a conflict with the terrorist organisation Hezbollah in Lebanon, at least two thousand rockets will rain down on Israel every day’, a senior Israeli military official has warned. In light of this possibility, Israeli security officials should be on high alert, he said.

Israel’s Home Front Command chief Ori Gordin expressed the possibility of a war with Hezbollah while speaking to an international news agency. ‘Israel does not want a conflict with Hezbollah. But if a conflict is sparked with Hezbollah in the coming times, Israel could face 1,500 to 2,500 rocket attacks per day’, Gordin warned. He also expressed that the number of rocket attacks on Israel per day could be five times those launched by Hamas in May.

In 2006, a 34-day conflict erupted between Israel and Hezbollah. During this conflict, Hezbollah had launched nearly 4,000 short-range Katyusha rockets into Israel. The then Olmert government was sharply criticised for failing to intercept the rocket attacks. Israel military lost 160 soldiers during this conflict.

After that, Israel developed the Iron Dome air defence system with great success in neutralising short-range rockets. But it is claimed that in the meantime, Hezbollah increased its rocket and missile capabilities. Hezbollah has anywhere between 45,000 and 150,000 rockets in its possession, according to reports. Against this background, the warning issued by the senior Israeli officer carries greater importance.

Hezbollah has an army of 100,000, Hassan Nasrallah warns

Beirut – Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah announced that Hezbollah, the Iran affiliated organisation in Lebanon, has 100,000 soldiers.

According to media reports, Nasrallah released the information to intimidate his political opponents in Lebanon. But analysts claim that this reveals that Hezbollah has the same strength as the Lebanese army.
