Jinping, who took over as the Chinese President eight years ago, has taken major steps to keep his grip tight, on the party and the country. Jinping had succeeded in creating his autocracy, with his decisions of cancelling the expiry of the President’s term, amending the constitution to get himself awarded the status of supremo and taking the entire military control in his hands. While doing all this, he had many of his opponents eliminated under the pretext of an anti-corruption campaign. Saying that the criticism made against him, will be treated as criticism against the party and the country, he made provisions for tough actions against it.

But Jinping’s autocracy is receiving jolts since the last few years. The Chinese economy has been severely hit because of the trade war, started by US President Donald Trump. After that, it is evident that the international community is going against China, over the Coronavirus pandemic issue. Voices express the displeasure that China is faced with this situation, just because of the autocratic and reckless policies adopted by President Jinping, are becoming louder, from within the party. The open criticism by Kai Shia, a former communist party member, is a part of the same displeasure.

Kai Shia, launched a scathing attack on the leadership of Jinping, during an interview with a British daily. Shia alleged that Xi Jinping has become a mafia boss and he has made the party a ‘Political Zombie’. Shia launched an attack saying that under Jinping’s rule, the communist party is no more a party, working for the progress of the country, but instead has become a significant obstacle in the country’s growth. Shia made a startling revelation that she was not alone, and many were willing to resign from the party. Kai also accused that Jinping’s policies will result in the death of China, as a country.

The tones against President Jinping are becoming intense, in China, and five members and leaders have been expelled over this issue. A few weeks ago, it was also reported that some differences had developed between President Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, over policy matters. These increasing differences indicate that all in not well in China.
