A furious Afghanistan recalls diplomatic officials from Pakistan

Kabul/Islamabad – Pakistan, who was playing the blame game, instead of investigating the abduction and torture of the daughter of Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil, has been delivered a severe jolt by the Afghan government. The Afghan government has made Pakistan aware of the seriousness of the issue by recalling its ambassadors and diplomatic officials. Pakistan’s interior minister has said that the daughter of the Afghan Ambassador was never abducted. Afghan Foreign Minister Atmar called Pakistan’s foreign minister and warned that his remarks would have an adverse effect on relations between the two countries. Meanwhile, there are reports that Pakistan has recalled its Ambassador to Afghanistan.

Silsila Alikhil, daughter of Najibullah Alikhil, Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, was abducted last week. Shocking reports emerged that the kidnappers had tortured Silsila, who was released a few hours later. The kidnappers also threatened to kidnap Ambassador Najibullah. The Afghan government had demanded that Pakistan take the matter seriously and investigate.

But Pakistan’s internal security minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, called for a new round of criticism, claiming that the daughter of the Afghan Ambassador had never been abducted. Sheikh Rasheed made a bizarre claim that the abduction of Silsila, the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter, was an international drama. Sheikh Rasheed blamed the Indian intelligence service for this. Rasheed also claimed that India’s intelligence agency was plotting to discredit Pakistan. Pakistan’s police have also confirmed the allegations.

Pakistan’s claim has sparked outrage in Afghanistan. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani immediately recalled his Ambassador and other senior diplomatic officials from Pakistan. Afghan Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar called Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and criticised Rashrrd’s absurd statements. Atmar warned, ‘Rasheed’s unprofessional opinions and hasty statements will damage Afghan-Pakistani relations, and Pakistan will lose credibility in the investigation of this case. Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh also reflected the sentiments of the Afghan people over the incident involving Ambassador Najibullah. Vice President Saleh has reportedly reacted angrily to the abduction, saying that this was an attack on Afghan pride.

Meanwhile, some wise journalists in Pakistan are also criticising the statements of interior minister Sheikh Rasheed. The abduction of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter is a serious matter, and Pakistani journalists are advising not to make such claims without any concrete evidence. The journalists are worried that this will further tarnish Pakistan’s image in the international arena.
