A furious Afghanistan recalls diplomatic officials from Pakistan

Silsila Alikhil, daughter of Najibullah Alikhil, Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, was abducted last week. Shocking reports emerged that the kidnappers had tortured Silsila, who was released a few hours later. The kidnappers also threatened to kidnap Ambassador Najibullah. The Afghan government had demanded that Pakistan take the matter seriously and investigate.

Vice President Saleh has reportedly reacted angrily to the abduction, saying that this was an attack on Afghan pride.

Meanwhile, some wise journalists in Pakistan are also criticising the statements of interior minister Sheikh Rasheed. The abduction of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter is a serious matter, and Pakistani journalists are advising not to make such claims without any concrete evidence. The journalists are worried that this will further tarnish Pakistan’s image in the international arena.
