France seizes Iranian ship carrying arms for Houthis

Dubai: The French navy seizes a ship bound for Yemen carrying a large stockpile of rifles, machine guns and anti-tank missiles. The US Central Command informed that the vessel captured during the operation in the Gulf of Oman belongs to Iran. Moreover, France and the US have alleged that the Iranian ship was carrying weapons for the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

A leading newspaper in the US disclosed this information. The US Central Command has released photographs of the weapons seized from the ship. In addition, the US Central Command has accused Iran of violating UN sanctions by supplying weapons to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has imposed sanctions on the Houthi rebels who have been rebelling against the internationally recognised government of Yemen. Nevertheless, the United States, European countries, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other countries in the Gulf have been accusing Iran of supplying arms to the Houthis in violation of the UN rules. These countries have claimed that this has threatened the security of the Gulf along with Yemen.
