Nitin Gadkari inaugurates & lays foundation stone for highway projects worth Rs 11,427 crore in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal/ New Delhi – On Tuesday, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, laid foundation stones and inaugurated 45 highway projects worth Rs. 11,427 crores in Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, at the time, Minister Gadkari said that the work of highway projects worth Rs. 50,000 crores would be accomplished in Madhya Pradesh by 2023. He further asserted that the face of Madhya Pradesh will change in two years from now as far as world-class highways network is concerned.

Foundation stone

On Tuesday, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for the road of 1,369 kilometres. This event happened via video conference. Moreover, 1 lakh crores are going to be invested in this project. Also, about 70% of the Rs. 30 crores project undertaken in Madhya Pradesh is complete. The aim is to complete projects worth Rs. 50,000 crores by 2023, said Minister Gadkari. At the time, the Minister inaugurated 26 road projects of 992 kilometres. Furthermore, Rs. 8898 crores have been invested in this project in all. Besides, roads worth 369 kilometres are going to be built by spending Rs. 2609 crores. The foundation stones of these 19 projects have been laid as well.

Madhya Pradesh and the Union government together will soon be constructing Chambal expressway in Rs. 8000 crores and will soon be laying its foundation. Minister Gadkari has asked the Chief Minister to expedite land acquisition and also make exemption on the land GST. This highway project will create a great provision for communication among the villages in Madhya Pradesh. Hence, the locals will easily be able to commute around. Moreover, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh – the states that share MP border will also be the beneficiaries. The highways will save time and fuel; it will also help reduce carbon generation and so the pollution, claimed the Union Minister.   

This roads and highway network will create cross connectivity via Delhi-Kolkata corridor, North-South corridor and Delhi-Mumbai-Expressway. This will also create employment opportunity for workers. Furthermore, Minister Gadkari said that the state would contribute Rs. 8214 crores to this proposed project of Delhi-Mumbai highway worth Rs. 1,00,000 crores. This highway will make the Delhi-Mumbai commute happen in just 12 hours.
