Berlin: it has been exposed that the financial aid announced by the German government for troubled businesses was used for funding terrorist and extremist organisations. A German Daily informed that a minimum of three offences had been registered in this respect, and more than 50 suspects and organisations related to places of worship are being investigated. This is the third major option carried out by the German security agencies against terrorist groups and extremists.

Various reports published over the last few months revealed that European businesses had been severely affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Aid worth billions of Euros was announced by the European Union as well as the member countries to bail out these businesses. But the developments in Germany revealed that this aid was, in fact, going to the terrorist and extremist organisations.

It is exposed the Touhid Berlin, an extremist group recently banned by Germany, and extremist preacher Ahmed Armih have received this funding. At the same time, it has also been exposed that this financial aid announced for the Corona crisis has been routed to the terrorist groups in the Gulf, and crimes have been registered against them. It is suspected that nearly 1 million Euros have landed in the hands of terrorist and extremist groups, and 250,000 Euros out of them have been seized.

The number of extremists has risen significantly in Germany over the last few years. As per a German internal security agency report, the number of extremists in the country has increased to 12,000. The agency said that there had been an increase of up to three times in the country’s number of extremists. Against this background, the action taken by the German security agencies becomes important.

The Corona financial aid issue exposes that the German government is not providing requisite attention to the increasing activities of the extremist and terrorist groups in the country.
