70 million African refugees may migrate to Europe in the next 15 years due to EU’s Migration Pact: German MEP

Berlin: The new Migration Pact introduced by European Union is dangerous; the EU could import 70 million African refugees over the next 15 years, warned EU’s German MEP, Gunnar Beck. Last month itself, news had surfaced that Spain deployed its army at its borders to stop the African refugee influx. Besides, the Italian government recently revealed that in the first four months of 2021 alone, over 10,000 refugees attempted to enter Italy.

In the last decade, a massive influx of refugees started to enter Europe due to the ‘Open Door Policy’ implemented by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. As the discontent against it kept growing, aggressive decisions were made to stop this influx over the last two years. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and resultant situation, efforts have resumed once again to open borders for refugee migration. The ‘Pact on Migration and Asylum’ by European Union is part of the same scheme, Alternative for Germany Party leader and MEP Gunnar Beck accused.

“I have myself been working on the EU migration pact for some time, and for me, the enactment of such a pact would be disastrous; because the EU not too long ago was talking about importing up to 70 million Africans into Europe by 2035. In my humble opinion, this is not what we need to modernise our economy,” Beck said as he warned of a possible new massive refugee influx into Europe.

Moreover, Beck also drew attention to the fact that ‘some may consider 70 million a vast number. However, nobody in the European Commission had denied the number when presented to them.’ A few years ago, a report was published about the rising number of senior citizens in Europe. Thus, under the pretext of this report, the European Union claimed that the migrant influx is vital to restore its age structure and workforce.

However, the European society, values and culture are under threat due to the frequent influx of African and Mideastern refugees. Thus, the discontent among the Europeans is rising. Also, its severe social and political effects can be seen in some countries. Moreover, the right-wing parties that take an aggressive stance against the migrant influx have garnered growing support. Also, a few countries have introduced laws to counter the refugee influx.
