Prague: – Russia retaliated with the expulsion of 10 US diplomats after the United States expelled Russian diplomats. While the tension between the two countries is increasing, the Czech Republic, a member country of NATO and the European Union, ordered 18 Russian diplomats to leave the country in the next 48 hours. russia-czechIn October 2014, there had been massive blasts in the military warehouse of Czech Republic. Two people had been killed in the blast. The suspicions that Russia was behind the blasts and the Russian secret agents involved it have become stronger. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis announced that these 18 Russian diplomats are being expelled for this reason. US media claimed that the Czech Republic has incited Russia strongly with this adventurous decision. The United States also seems to have jumped into the dispute.

The US embassy in the Czech Republic announced support to the Czech Republic, the closest ally of the United States. The US embassy announced that the United States wholly supports the actions taken by the Czech Republic to stop the dangerous Russian activities in the country. Following the expulsion of 10 US diplomats from Russia, the US department of state had warned that there would be retaliation. The action taken by the Czech Republic is a part of the same retaliation.

Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian foreign ministry, recorded the country’s reaction is measured words that it is clear that the United States is behind the decision of the Czech Republic. But the Czech Republic is certainly aware as to what can be the consequences. It is also being claimed that Russia infuriated by the Czech decision, may decide to close the embassy in that country. The international media are claiming that this is the first time that such extreme tension has been created between the Czech Republic and Russia, since the disintegration of Soviet Russia, in 1989.

While Russia is adopting an aggressive stand on the Ukraine issue, it is being observed that the Czech Republic, a member of NATO and the European Union, is trying to exert pressure on Russia by opening a new political front. But some US leaders have warned that there could be serious consequences of this US-Russia tension.

Tulsi Gabbard, a former US representative, has asked whether the United States’ leadership has decided to fight a devastating nuclear war on the Ukraine issue. Tulsi Gabbard retorted that if that is not the case, the US leaders should stop wielding swords, quit showing strength, and reduce the pressure on Russia.
