Coronavirus on a rampage in Iran, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, more than 9,000 deaths

Tehran/Istanbul: Coronavirus rampage in Iran, Turkey along with the African and Middle East countries, has claimed more than 9,000 lives. In the last 24 hours, 121 deaths were reported from Turkey and 73 deaths were reported from Iran. At the same time, the total number of cases in Iran, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, put together, is nearly 200,000. In the last 24 hours, the number of Coronavirus cases reported only from Turkey was 3,783. The spread of Coronavirus has increased in 52 countries, out of the 54 countries in the African continent and more than 20,000 cases of Coronavirus have been reported.

The maximum spread of Coronavirus has been found in Iran and Turkey, in the Middle East region. Among these, 1,890 lives have been claimed in Turkey. It is reported that Turkey has the maximum number of cases in the Middle East region. Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, informed that the total number of cases in Turkey has reached 82,329.

73 patients died in Iran on Saturday. The total number of deaths in Iran have reached 5,118. In the last 24 hours, 1,374 new cases have been reported from Iran, taking the total number of patients to 80,860. Iran claims that more than 57,000 patients out of these have been cured. Therefore, the Iranian health ministry claimed that the Coronavirus pandemic was being controlled in the country. At the same time, Iran has initiated the process of relaxing the lockdown in capital Tehran, from Saturday.

Kianush Jahanpur, the spokesman of the Iran health ministry, said that the number of lives claimed by the pandemic on Saturday has shown a decline as compared to the last five days. Kianush also claimed that the numbers will reduce further in the next few days. Along with Iran and Turkey, the pandemic is spreading rapidly in the Middle East countries of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iraq. Among these, 224 lives were claimed in Egypt, 92 in Saudi Arabia, 37 in the United Arab Emirates and 82 in Iraq.

Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention informed that the pandemic has claimed more than 1,000 lives in the African continent and 19,800 cases have been reported from the African countries. On Saturday, the Nigerian defence chief, Abba Kayari, died because of Coronavirus. This case, being a high profile one, has caused quite a stir in Nigeria.

It was said that there was an increase of 60% in deaths and 51% increase in the number of cases, in the African continent. Medical facilities in many of the African countries are grossly insufficient. Therefore, fears had been expressed, a few days ago, that there would be a massive number of deaths if the Coronavirus spread to these African countries.
