China is encroaching upon Gilgit-Baltistan using BRI project

Glasgow: – Activist Ayoub Mirza presented the plight of the people in POK and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that the population of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) is harassed with the colonialism of Pakistan, since the last 73 years. Moreover, now China, under the pretext of Belt and Road Initiative, has encroached on the land in Gilgit-Baltistan. Therefore, now the people of POK have to cope even with the Chinese colonialism. Mirza also castigated Pakistan, who declared Gilgit-Baltistan as the fifth Pakistan province.

The people of POK and Gilgit-Baltistan are harassed with the colonialism of Pakistan and China. Pakistan military is showering cruel atrocities on the people in the region. Mirza, who is living in the United Kingdom, has warned that although they are Indian citizens, people of POK and Gilgit-Baltistan are harassed by the Pakistani and Chinese colonialism. Pakistan has declared a stern punishment of 40, 60 or 90 years of imprisonment, for activists raising their voices against the Chinese constructions. There is one Pakistani soldier per every 25 people in Gilgit-Baltistan. The local population is tired of this harassment. Mirza blamed that Pakistan is responsible for the victimisation of the people of POK.

Mirza has written a letter to President-elect Joe Biden, who won the US presidential elections. Mirza has appealed to Biden, in the letter, to pressurise Pakistan to withdraw its military from POK. POK has become a terrorist hub. Pakistan is training terrorists on this land and then sending them to Jammu-Kashmir. Mirza accused that Pakistan is conspiring to create instability in Jammu-Kashmir.

Meanwhile, there is raging anger in the people in the region, following the declaration by Prime Minister Imran Khan that Gilgit-Baltistan is the fifth Pakistani province. The people in the region have taken to the streets, to protest against the Imran Khan announcement. Against this background, Pakistan opposition leader, Bilawal Bhutto has assured that the Gilgit-Baltistan population will be provided constitutional rights. Elections are being held in Gilgit-Baltistan on 15th of November. Bhutto claimed that if the people of Gilgit-Baltistan vote for the Pakistan People’s Party, it will ensure all the constitutional rights for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

India is opposed to these elections. India has clearly warned that Pakistan should vacate this region as it is a part of India. India has already warned that India will not tolerate any change in the status of Gilgit-Baltistan.
