China warns of crushing reply to provocation on South China Sea

Beijing / Melbourne : China’s aggression seems to have been aggravated since the International Tribunal Court’s decision against their claim in the South China Sea dispute. Foreign Ministry of China has issued a warning stating “If anyone provokes China in the South China Sea, China will give a crushing reply,”

China warns of crushing reply to provocation in South China Sea

Australia had appealed to China not to be arrogant in the South China Sea matter. However China admonished Australia to stay away from this dispute else it would affect their bilateral relations.

After the decision taken by the International Tribunal Court in Hague, regarding the South China Sea, The Chief of Naval Operations for the US, Admiral John Richardson is going to make a special visit to China this Sunday. On his visit, Admiral Richardson will be meeting Admiral Wu Shengli, the Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Navy. During this visit, Admiral Richardson will also be visiting China’s naval base in Qingdao and would be discussing the issues concerning the South China Sea with the Chinese authorities.

At present China does not seem to be listening to anyone about the matters concerning South China Sea. Its foreign ministry has warned all other countries on the brewing issues and emphasized that China has the sole authority over the South China Sea. Lu Kang, the Spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry lamented that The Hague Tribunal, which announced its decision on the South China Sea dispute, has nothing to do with this territory. Kang also claimed that China has full authority to make decisions regarding the air-security in South China Sea territory. Kang also threatened that to safeguard the interests of China; it would face any challenge and give a crushing reply. 

Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull had appealed to China to not to be arrogant and that China should not unilaterally take decisions and try to change the situation in the South China Sea. In response to this appeal from Prime Minister Malcolm, China’s Lu Kang had reacted sharply and had warned Australia not to direct them on any international laws.

In the last few days, US and its allies have received more provocation through publications in Global Times, the mouthpiece of Chinese government. Global Times had reported that for development, China may build nuclear power stations in the South China Sea. Global Times also reported that under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation 20 marine nuclear platforms were under development.

US and its allies have already criticized the construction of artificial islands and military activities by China in South China Sea. Japan’s Prime minister, Shinzo Abe has said that the deployment of military by China has created tensions in the region and this issue must be raised in the upcoming Asia-Europe Meeting, to be held in Mongolia.” In response to Prime minister, Shinzo Abe the Prime Minister of China, Li Keqiang warned Japan not to interfere in the affairs of China.
