China, restless by investigation of Coronavirus origin, issues warning to WHO

Beijing: – The Coronavirus originated in Wuhan lab in China, and China has begun to oppose this new inquiry. China has indicated it will reject the investigation, citing that the issue could be used for political purposes. A few days ago, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the resumption of its investigation into the origin of the Coronavirus. A team of experts has also been announced for this.

‘China supports the investigation into the Coronavirus using the scientific method at the international level, and China will also participate in it. But China is adamantly opposed to using the issue of the Coronavirus inquiry on the political level. The WHO, the advisory group, and all concerned should adopt an objective and responsible scientific approach.’ said Zhao Lijian, the spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s offensive is said to be an attempt to oppose an investigation by the WHO.

A WHO delegation visited Wuhan, China, in January and February. The report was then submitted at the end of March. The statement denied any involvement of the Wuhan Labs. This was also supported at that time by Tedros Ghebreyesus, the head of the WHO. Even before this report, he had consistently sided with China. This drew a lot of criticism against the WHO. Criticism that the report was made by the organisation, acting as a puppet of China, began in the health and research sectors.

The international atmosphere later began to change. Major countries in the world, including the United States and European countries, started accusing China of the Coronavirus’s origin. Many senior US leaders, officials and researchers pointed to the Wuhan laboratory. A researcher who succeeded in escaping from China also revealed that she had evidence in this regard. Against this background, US President Joe Biden had ordered US agencies to investigate the Wuhan lab leak and submit a report. Then the issue of the Wuhan Lab Leak Theory came on the anvil at the international level.

In July, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Ghebreyesus, demanded that China allow a comprehensive inquiry. The WHO said that China should be more transparent and open to the organisation and hand over the raw data to the organisation. It was also hinted that the Wuhan Lab Theory could not be completely ruled out, and a fresh investigation could be ordered.

But this has been consistently opposed by China. China had denied the first demand saying that some countries are trying to politicise the issue of the origin of the Coronavirus and China is concerned about this. Later in August, Chinese ministers opposed the new inquiry by saying China opposed repealing the earlier report. Now that a new investigation team has been announced, China has again started sounding the alarm, alleging political motives. Therefore, the suspicion that everything is not well about the origin of the Coronavirus is gaining strength.
