China will take measures to secure its sovereignty over South China Sea, Chinese foreign ministry warns USLast week, reports mentioned that the gigantic Nuclear Supercarrier from the US navy- USS Nimitz, which was deployed in the Persian Gulf over the last few months has left for the Indo-Pacific. After taking over as the US President, Joe Biden had indicated maintaining the same policy for the Indo-Pacific sector. The new deployment of the USS Nimitz is being viewed from that angle. But even before that, another aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt entered the sector, when USS Nimitz was sailing through the South China Sea.

Rear Admiral Doug Verissimo, commander of USS Theodore Roosevelt, said that it is a significant opportunity that two of the US aircraft carriers are patrolling the same sector. But China criticised the United States for sending two aircraft carriers to the sector. Wang Wenbin, the spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry, criticised that the United States, time and again, is carrying out a show of strength, by sending its warships and fighter jets to this sector. The US actions are not favourable for peace and stability in the sector.

Meanwhile, international media are claiming that two aircraft carriers have been sent to the South China Sea to warn China, who has been trying to gauge Biden administration’s response.
