China is the most disliked country among South Koreans

Seoul/Beijing – The image of China, which threatens small and neighbouring countries with its military and economic might, is becoming more and more tarnished. A recent poll in neighbouring South Korea found that 58 per cent of people disliked China. The survey also claims that some have reacted to the fact that the Chinese regime is almost like Satan. A report released last month by the Pew Research Centre in the United States also found that China’s image was negative among 17 leading countries in the world.

China, South Korea, United StatesSouth Korea is set to hold presidential elections next year. There are indications that the issue on the anvil in this election will be the Coronavirus pandemic, North Korea and house prices. This is an issue of China, and the statements made by potential presidential candidates in this regard, have attracted attention. Against this backdrop, Hankook Research, a leading South Korean survey company, conducted a survey to gauge public opinion.

According to the report, 58 per cent of South Koreans said that China is the most unpopular country. The Chinese regime is also referred to as ‘Close to Evil’. According to Hankook Research, young people are the most involved. ‘Until now, hating Japan was part of South Korea’s national identity. In our survey, many people in their 40s and older say they still hate Japan. However, the young generation between the ages of 20 and 30 are the ones who hate China the most.’ said Jeong Han-Wool, an analyst at Hankook Research. The Korean youth feel that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s foreign policy and dictatorship threaten a free society. According to analysts at Hankook Research, the handling of the Coronavirus pandemic, the expansionist actions in the South China Sea, and the massive pollution from China also have upset Korean youth. Comparing the United States and China, the survey also found that Koreans voted for the United States as ‘six to one.’

China, South Korea, United StatesFor the past few years, President Jinping and the communist regime have been trying to project the image of China as a world superpower through various means, including the media. Create an image of China as a loving and humble country was the message recently given by Chinese President Xi Jinping. But in reality, according to various surveys, China’s international image is deteriorating. The international community’s outrage over issues such as the Coronavirus pandemic, Hong Kong, atrocities against the Uyghurs and the South China Sea seems to be reaffirmed by the South Korean public.
