After failing to get support from Saudi Arabia on the Kashmir issue and getting insulted by Saudi, Pakistan has started pleading with China for support. Against this background, Pakistan Foreign Minister Qureshi is on a three-day visit to China. During this meeting, held on Hainan Island, in the South China Sea, Qureshi said that China was the ‘Iron Brother’ of Pakistan. The Chinese Foreign Minister said that Pakistan should adopt an independent path for its national interests. Whereas, the joint statement issued after the meeting said that Kashmir is a disputed issue and it should be resolved through negotiations, within the framework of the United Nations.

The Indian Foreign Ministry lashed out at China and Pakistan, expressing anger over the featuring of the Kashmir issue in the discussions. Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava lashed out ‘India does not accept the Kashmir issue being discussed, in the meeting, between China and Pakistan. India has clarified its stand even in the past. At the same time, India opposes the CPEC project, passing through the Indian territory.’ Srivastava pointed out that the CPEC project passes through the Indian territory encroached by Pakistan. India has always taken a clear stand regarding the CPEC project.

Meanwhile, four days ago, Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa visited Saudi Arabia. The Pakistan Army Chief made a miserable effort to pacify Saudi and get it to support Pakistan, on the Kashmir issue. But the Pakistan Army Chief had to return insulted and empty-handed, from Saudi, as Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman refused to meet him. Thereafter, the Pakistan Foreign Minister proceeded on a visit to China. But the Pakistan media are claiming that Pakistan has been insulted, even in this visit. The Pakistan media criticised that China sent a police constable, instead of officials from the foreign ministry, to receive Foreign Minister Qureshi. At the same time, talks are rife in the Pakistan media that even Xi Jinping refused a meeting with Pakistan Foreign Minister Qureshi.
