Australia had banned entry for Chinese citizens due to the fear of importing Coronavirus from China. Birmingham said that this decision was necessary for the protection of the Australian population. China had expressed regret over this Australian decision. Against the background of the dispute, between the two countries, the decision had not gone down well with China. In the last few months, Australia has taken some aggressive choices to stop the strategic Chinese investments in the country. The Scott Morrison government in Australia took some bold decisions, jolting China, to reduce the Chinese influence in Australia. At the same time, Prime Minister Morrison has made a strategic decision to increase cooperation with India, opposing the Chinese activities in the Pacific Ocean sector. Just a day ago, an agreement, for the use of each other’s military bases, was signed between India and Australia.

Within a day of this agreement, China announced that Australia is not safe for Chinese citizens. This is no coincidence and contains a Chinese message that it has taken serious cognisance of the growing military and economic cooperation between India and Australia. Before this, China banned meat imports from Australia. Then China increased taxes on the wheat imported from Australia. It is said that China took these decisions to teach a lesson to Australia who is demanding a detailed inquiry in the Coronavirus pandemic. It is therefore clear that the tension between Australia and China is increasing and both the countries will retaliate against each other in the same language in the future.
