A ceasefire was established between Israel and PIJ after 1,100 rockets attacks and 51 deathsLast week, clashes broke out in the Gaza Strip between the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a terrorist group and the Israeli army. Israel claims that PIJ terrorists fired nearly 1,100 rockets into Israel during the three-day conflict. 200 of these rockets landed in Gaza Strip itself, killing 24 Palestinians. Israel claims that the Iron Dome successfully intercepted the rest of the rockets which entered Israel’s territory.

The Israeli army claims to have killed 24 senior PIJ commanders in an operation which targeted 170 locations in Gaza by warplanes and tanks. The conflict raised fears of replicating last year’s conflict between Israel and the PIJ. Against this backdrop, Egypt brokered a ceasefire between Israel and the PIJ.

The ceasefire was implemented after half past eleven on Sunday night. But despite the ceasefire, tension is brewing between Israel and the PIJ. The terrorists are demanding Israel release the PIJ members in its custody. A ceasefire was established between Israel and PIJ after 1,100 rockets attacks and 51 deathsWhereas Israel has refused to do so as it was not covered in the ceasefire discussions. Although the ceasefire has come into effect, Israel and the PIJ are accusing each other of carrying out attacks. The PIJ has publicly claimed to possess military preparedness to turn Israel into hell and to push Israel from its occupied area of Palestine. Therefore, local analysts are warning that even if the ceasefire has been implemented, it would be temporary and a fresh conflict will break out soon.

Meanwhile, Israeli analysts highlight that along with fresh conflicts with PIJ, Hamas in the Gaza Strip and radical groups in the West Bank will also actively participate, adding pressure on Israel from its Eastern and Western borders. Israeli analysts have warned that Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon would use this situation to launch attacks on the northern part of Israel. Iran is also provoking the PIJ to continue attacking Israel.
