Coronavirus cases may reach 1.2 million by July end in Pakistan

Islamabad: The number of Coronavirus deaths has reached 2,647, and the number of cases has reached 150,000 in Pakistan. Former Pakistan Prime Ministers Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Yousuf Raza Gilani have contracted Coronavirus infection. Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi also has been infected with Coronavirus. Assad Umar, the Planning and Development Minister of Pakistan, said that the number of cases in Pakistan would cross 1.2 million by July end. Assad Umar, along with Prime Minister Imran Khan, has blurted out claims that people of Pakistan need not fear the Coronavirus.

Only two days ago, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed concerns over the situation of Coronavirus in India and had offered a helping hand. Indians had scoffed at the offer. Whereas, the foreign ministry reminded Imran Khan that there is a lot to be done in Pakistan. But now, the Coronavirus pandemic has started to acquire alarming proportions in Pakistan, and it is said that there are more than 143,000 Coronavirus cases in Pakistan. Whereas, the number of Coronavirus deaths in Pakistan has reached 2,647. There is a shortage of medical facilities in Pakistan. The medical systems in the most developed countries, like the United States and the United Kingdom, are struggling under the onslaught of the Coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the Pakistan media itself has started claiming that the figures declared regarding Coronavirus deaths and cases are not reliable.

A report had claimed that the city of Lahore had more than 670,000 Coronavirus cases in the middle of May. One of the journalists made a frightening claim that the number might have crossed 1.4 million by now. Accusations are rife that Pakistan is hiding the information regarding the Coronavirus pandemic. In the initial stages, Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed to the people of Pakistan not to panic. Assad Umar, the Minister for economic planning and development, endorsed this view and said that there is no need for a lockdown in Pakistan. But a major blow has been received due to this indifference and outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic is observed in many parts of the country. Now, Assad Umar himself has warned that the number of Coronavirus cases in Pakistan will cross 1.2 million by the end of July. Nearly 100 members of the Pakistan parliament have been infected by Coronavirus. Two Former Pakistan Prime Ministers namely Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Yousuf Raza Gilani have contracted Coronavirus infection. Former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi also has reportedly been infected with Coronavirus. A Pakistan minister has said that there are many more cases of Coronavirus in the Pakistani political circle. A few days ago, reports of Pakistani military officials being infected by Coronavirus had also been received. Therefore, it is evident that the Coronavirus pandemic is burrowing deep into Pakistan.
