BSF arrests 13 Bangladeshis attempting to intrude into Indian territory

Kolkata: 13 Bangladesh citizens, trying to infiltrate through the international border in the 24 Pargana district of West Bengal, were arrested by soldiers from the Border Security Force (BSF). These Bangladeshis were illegally living in India since the last few years. A few days ago, they had visited Bangladesh to meet some relatives, and they were arrested while attempting to intrude again into India.

The Bangladeshis were arrested while attempting intrusion through the international border in Hakimpur, Tarali and Bethari. The BSF informed on Saturday that these people were arrested by the 112 Battalion of the BSF. Following the arrest, all these people confessed to being Bangladeshi citizens.  

It is important to note that these people were living in India since the last few years. After intruding into India, some of them were working in Kolkata, and some were working in Bengaluru. They had been to Bangladesh to visit some of their relatives. The officials said that they were arrested while trying to enter India again.   

The BSF has handed over the arrested people to the Swaroop Nagar police for further action and charges have been filed against them. The South Bengal Frontier of the BSF is taking strict steps to stop illegal infiltration on the India-Bangladesh border. The BSF officials said that infiltration on the border has been curtailed to a great extent with these actions. Indian and Bangladeshi soldiers are even carrying out joint patrolling on the border to stop infiltration and smuggling. In October, BSF soldiers handed over eight Bangladeshis to the Bangladesh security forces.
