Bomb blast near Israeli consulate in New Delhi

New Delhi: – Sensation was created because of a bomb blast near the Israeli consulate in New Delhi. It was a low-intensity explosion, and no one was injured in the blast. All the diplomatic officials and other employees from the Israeli consulate are safe. The Delhi police informed that some vehicles were damaged in the blast. The security at the Israeli consulate in New Delhi has been beefed up following the explosion. Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) discussed this incident with the Israeli NSA and updated him regarding the incident. Whereas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed confidence in the Indian security system and said that the Israeli citizens are safe in India.

This explosion went off at 5:05 pm on the APJ Abdul Kalam road. No one was injured, and as per information, this was a low-intensity blast. The Delhi police and a team from the NIA rushed to the spot. The security at the Israeli consulate, which is close to the blast location, was beefed up. The Beating Retreat was being held at the Vijay Chowk, in New Delhi, which is just 2 kilometres away from the spot. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, and the three defence chiefs were present at the beating retreat. Therefore, even if the blast was of low intensity, the security agencies have taken it very seriously.   

The blast becomes significant on the occasion of completion of 29 years of India-Israel relations. Following the explosion, the Israeli Ambassador informed that all the embassy diplomatic officials and employees were safe. Indian NSA Ajit Doval discussed with Israeli NSA Meir Ben-Shabbat and updated him regarding the blast. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also reportedly had talks with his Israeli counterpart. Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said that he has taken serious cognisance of this explosion.   

Following the blast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed confidence in the Indian security systems. Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the Israeli citizens would be provided with the necessary security in India and the Indian agencies will thoroughly investigate the blast. It is said that Netanyahu instructed the Israeli officials to ensure that the message reached to the Indian Prime Minister. The security at the Israeli high commission and Chabad House, in Mumbai, has also been increased following the blast.
