A large community had gathered here for the prayers held to pay homage to the late mother of Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid. Taliban commanders are also said to have participated. A bomb had exploded at the place of worship where the gathering was held to target them. It was not clear whether it was a suicide attack or a bombing for a long time. However, it is claimed that Taliban commanders and terrorists were the targets for the attacker.

A Taliban spokesman declared that the bomber struck shortly afternoon in front of the Eidgah Great Mosque. The Taliban claimed that several civilians were killed. According to eyewitnesses and media reports, 19 people were killed in the blast, including many Taliban militants. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Photos and videos of the situation after the explosion went viral on social media.

Over the past few days, attacks on Taliban militants have increased in Afghanistan. In western Afghanistan, Taliban terrorists in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, along with capital Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif, are being targeted. Also, on Saturday, two Taliban militants were killed in an attack in Jalalabad. Earlier, IS-Khorasan had claimed responsibility for the attacks in Kabul and Jalalabad.

The Taliban is no longer the 20 years old version, but now it has compromised with the West. Thus, earlier, IS-Khorasan had threatened to eliminate the Taliban and establish its own rule in Afghanistan. Therefore, on Sunday, there is a strong possibility that IS-Khorasan was responsible also for the attack on the place of worship in Kabul.

But disputes among the small groups within the Taliban are claimed to have caused these escalating Afghanistan attacks. Analysts say differences over the formation of the government could be the cause of the attacks. Analysts had already warned that there would be a major escalation in this conflict soon.
