Dhaka : On Tuesday, Bangladesh security agencies busted a major terror plot killing 9 terrorists. In the beginning of this month itself, Bangladesh was shaken by terror attack. On this background, the action taken by the security agencies proves very important. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, too appreciated the security agencies for their action.

The security forces had received information from intelligence agency that the terrorists were hiding in a 7 storey apartment in Kalyanpur area in Bangladesh. Accordingly, on Tuesday, as per Bangladesh Standard Time at 5.51 am in the morning, ‘SWAT’ unit and ‘Anti Crime Rapid Action Battalion’ (RAB) unitedly conducted operation ‘Storm 26’. Under this operation, the security forces raided the house where the terrorists were hiding. At this time, 9 terrorists were killed in the gun battle, informed Bangladesh police chief, A.K.M. Shahidul Hoque. Also, 13 handmade grenades, 1 sword, 1 pistol, 7 magazines and bullets were seized from these terrorists.

These terrorists were members of extremist group Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Also, ‘JMB’ was behind the terrorist attack held at the cafe in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh on July 1. On this backdrop, the action taken against the terrorists of JMB proves to be significant.

One terrorist has been taking treatment in the hospital who was shot by a bullet during the gun fight that continued for almost one hour. This terrorist is identified as Raqibul Hasan alias Rigan. He was missing since last year. Also, it has come forth during interrogation that he is an IS member.
