Control of Bagram base was important to monitor the Chinese nuclear project: former US President Donald Trump

Washington: – Former US President Donald Trump said, ‘I had planned to keep control over the Bagram airbase while withdrawing the military from Afghanistan. It is because the Chinese nuclear weapons manufacturing facility is just a few hours from the Bagram base. Therefore, the United States needed to keep control over the Bagram airbase, to keep an eye on the Chinese facility.’ Saying that China is preparing to take over the Bagram airbase, as the Biden administration has given up its control, former President Trump made vitriolic criticism that the Biden administration is responsible for it.

A few days ago, while speaking to a news channel, Trump had lashed out at the process of US military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Trump had made crushing criticism ‘In the first place, it was important to bring all the US citizens safely to the homeland. After that, the US weapons should have been completely removed from the military bases and attacks should have been launched on the bases to render them useless. The US military should have left Afghanistan only after completing these tasks.’

At the same time, Trump attacked the statement made by US defence chief Mark Milley that the weapons and defence equipment left behind by the US military does not have a huge cost attached to it. Former President Trump pointed out that one aircraft left behind by the US military, for the Taliban, is worth $100 million.

Earlier as well, the former US President had lashed out at the Biden administration over the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Bagram airbase. Trump had said that the biggest blunder committed by the Biden administration was vacating the Bagram airbase, known to be the biggest airbase in Afghanistan. Former President Trump had also accused China, which is providing financial aid to the Taliban, is preparing to take control of the Bagram airbase.
