Australia will not succumb to any pressure: President Scott Morrison reprimands China

Canberra/Beijing: – Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison warned that Australia would not succumb to any pressure saying that China should clearly remember that no conditions can be put if they are interested in maintaining bilateral relations. Don’t expect that restrictions will be imposed on the Australian media; rules for who can invest in the country will be bypassed. Remember that this will not be a wise thing. China has sparked a trade war against Australia since the last few months. Huge taxes have been imposed on the fish, marine produce, cotton, meat and wine coming from Australia. While imposing the taxes, the goods coming from Australia also are being detained in the ports, for the last many days. After that, now China has announced that the Coal imported from Australia has been included in the Black List. While reporting this, the Chinese mouthpiece Global Times informed that China would henceforth be importing Coal from Russia, Mongolia and Indonesia.

China imports nearly $14 billion worth of Coal, from Australia per annum. But this year, there has been a decline of nearly 78% in this volume. More than 80 Australian ships carrying Coal worth more than $1 billion, are waiting in the Chinese ports, since the last two months. But China has refused to offload the Coal from these ships. China has forwarded a reason that the environmental criteria are not satisfied. But the Black List decision goes to show that this is a part of the trade war against Australia.

Since the last two years, Australia has adopted an aggressive stand against China. The reasons behind this are the interference of the Chinese communist regime in various sectors in Australia and the efforts to increase its influence. The Australian government has taken many policy decisions to stop this influence and has also taken a firm stand on the legal and diplomatic levels. China is infuriated with this change in the Australian stand and has threatened to be prepared for dire consequences unless the decisions against it are reversed.

But Australia has bluntly refused to bow in front of the Chinese Pressure and the warning issued by Prime Minister Scott Morrison is a part of the same policy. Morrison has taken an open stand of confrontation even on the stopping of Coal imports. The Australian Prime Minister warned that the Chinese decision is a violation of the World Trade Organisation and other than China, countries like India and Japan also are importing Coal from India.
