Ten killed in attack on Afghan Vice President 

Kabul: Ten people got killed in a terror attack that was targeted at the Afghan Vice President, Amrullah Saleh, and his entourage. Vice President Saleh was briefly saved from the blast. Vice President Saleh is recognized as the tough opposer of Taliban and Pakistan. But, Taliban, the ally of Pakistan has denied its responsibility in this blast. This blast rocked Afghanistan ahead of the peace talks that were to take place between the Afghan government and Taliban. Moreover, the security has been alerted in Kabul and other Afghan cities after this blast.

On Wednesday morning, the entourage of the Afghan VP was on its way to Kabul. As it reached a populated area, the blast took off close to its vehicle. However, Vice President Saleh was minutely bruised in the explosion. But, as the vicinity had a market around, ten people lost their lives. Also, more than 30 are seriously wounded. On considering the intensity of the blast, concerns are expressed that the death toll may rise furthermore. Vice President Saleh posted a video of him to let people know that he is safe and sound. He also expressed condolences for the ones who lost their lives.   

Last year, Saleh’s office was attacked ahead of the Presidential election. At the time, Saleh was safely escorted out of his office. Vice President Saleh is known as an ardent opposer of Taliban and Pakistan. Thus, it is known that he has always been a target of terror-outfits. A few hours ago, VP Saleh had criticized Pakistan, Taliban and Durand Line. He said that the weaker government had drawn the Durand Line. This matter should be discussed and resolved, he further added. 

Moreover, he also criticized Pakistani check-posts and patrol. Apart from this, Saleh had also asserted that the US would not withdraw its army from Afghanistan anytime soon. Against the background of such events, the recent attack draws attention.    

Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the blast. Moreover, this incident received worldwide outrage. India, NATO and the European Union condemned this blast as well. Also, India stands in solidarity with Afghanistan against the menace of terrorism. Furthermore, the Indian Foreign Ministry has said that India is making efforts to establish peace in Afghanistan.
