The attacks in the ‘Eastern Ghouta’ region of Syria by the Syrian army and Russia continue till Friday morning. More than 400 have been killed and more than 1000 have been injured in the attacks. Some are feared to be trapped under the debris of the collapsed buildings. The local and international human rights organisations are claiming that it has become difficult to treat the injured as Syria and Russia are targeting the medical facilities.

US is closely watching the Russian and Syrian activities to prevent repetition of such crimes’, said Shah. After the accusations were levelled by the White House Deputy Press Secretary against Syria and Russia, the Spokesperson of the US State Department, Heather Nauert also issued a rebuke. The horrible activities of the Assad regime are being supported by Russia and Iran, accused Nauert.

Following the US, even Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have criticised the Assad regime over the ‘Eastern Ghouta’ attacks. This also echoed in the United Nations Security Council. The US envoy, Nikki Haley has appealed for an immediate ceasefire in ‘Eastern Ghouta’ and asked to send medical help to the area.

Russia has rejected the proposal saying that there cannot be any ceasefire with the rebels in ‘Eastern Ghouta’. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, ‘Russia will announce a 30-day ceasefire but it will not apply to the rebels. He also accused the western powers of plotting to overthrow the Assad regime by taking advantage of the ceasefire.

Russia used Stealth Bombers in Syria

While there has been severe widespread criticism on the Russian attacks in the Eastern Ghouta attacks, there are claims that Russia had used stealth bombers during the attack. Videos of the Russian made Sukhoii-57 stealth bombers flying in the area have surfaced.

A Sukhoii-57 fleet landed at the kheimim airbase in the western city of Latakia in Syria. There are five other types of Russian fighter jets and bombers that have already been deployed at the airbase. The international media are claiming that these are indications that Russia is going to intensify the conflict with the deployment of the stealth bombers.
