Army & CRPF chiefs visit Jammu & Kashmir after civilian killings and operation in Poonch-Rajouri

Srinagar – Army Chief General Manoj Naravane’s is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, which began on Monday. This was followed by visit of CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh. Terrorist groups have started a spate of killing innocent civilians and migrant workers over the last few days in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, a major operation is underway targeting terrorists in the forests of Poonch and Rajouri. The operation has been going on for the last eight days and nine soldiers have been martyred. Against this backdrop, the Army Chief is visiting Jammu and Kashmir. Soon, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan is obvious restless with these developments, as its politics is pivoted on the Kashmir issue. Pakistan has hatched a cunning plan to instigate the killing of innocent civilians to induce fear in the valley. However, analysts believe that Pakistan’s actions will boomerang.

However, at present, there is an atmosphere of terror among the migrants in Jammu and Kashmir. Some workers have left Jammu and Kashmir and returned to their home states. Meetings are being held at the central ministry on the emerging situation. A high-level meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister was held recently. Army Chief General Naravane and CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh arrived in Jammu and Kashmir to meet with senior officials of IB, NIA, Army and CRPF. Security arrangement has been enhanced in areas inhabited by migrant workers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, intelligence agencies have received information that the offices of hydropower projects and other government agencies in Jammu and Kashmir may be targeted by terrorists. Therefore, the security of all important places, including airports, has been enhanced. In Jammu and Kashmir, anti-terrorist operations are underway in various parts and the operation in Poonch for eight days. Helicopters and drones are now being used to search for terrorists. There are reports that some terrorist hideouts in Poonch and Rajouri have been destroyed by the army and bunkers built by terrorists, as hideouts, in the Bhata Dhurian area of Poonch. The Army Chief, who is on a tour of Jammu and Kashmir, also reviewed the operation in Poonch and Rajouri. In addition, the deployment of CRPF and other paramilitary forces could be increased to crack down on terrorists and their supporters.
