UK and France sign agreements to stop influx of illegal immigrants; UK to fund France with 60 million Euros

London/Paris: – A new bilateral agreement has been signed between the United Kingdom and France to curb the illegal influx of immigrants through the Channel Crossing area. Under the agreement, the British government will provide an additional 62.7 million Euros to the French security agencies. It is said that the funds will be provided to France for the deployment of additional troops, technology and refugee camps. This is the second agreement reached between the United Kingdom and France to prevent the influx of refugees.

The agreement was signed by British Home Minister Priti Patel and French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. Under the new deal, France will double the deployment of security along its coast. At the same time, the scope and area of patrols between France and the United Kingdom will be increased. The use of advanced surveillance systems and air surveillance has been approved within France’s maritime borders. It has also been decided to set up additional infrastructure for security at Channel Crossing. The United Kingdom will provide more than 60 million euros to France for the implementation of all this.

This is the second agreement between Britain and France on the issue of illegal immigrants. In the agreement signed last year, the two countries decided to set up an “operational research unit”. The system was set up to track down illegal immigrants as well as criminal gangs involved in human trafficking. Sources said that with his help, thousands of illegal immigrants were stopped; criminal gangs were cracked down. However, the problem of infiltration of illegal immigrants is not entirely solved.

More than 8,000 refugees infiltrated the United Kingdom last year. In the first six months of this year too, over 6,000 refugees tried entering the United Kingdom. British officials and analysts have warned that last year’s limit will be exceeded in the next two months if the momentum continues. Against this backdrop, the British government has launched an aggressive campaign against immigrants, with the ‘New Testament’ being an important milestone.

Earlier in March, Home Minister Priti Patel had issued a stern warning that anyone entering the country through invalid and illegal means would not be tolerated while announcing her UK policy. Britain has since stepped up its offensive against illegal intruders through strengthening security and other measures. Last month, the British Home Minister issued a stern warning to social media platforms to immediately remove posts promoting illegal infiltrators, refugees and criminal gangs. A bill called the Nationality and Borders Bill has since been introduced in the British Parliament. The bill, in turn, makes aggressive provisions against infiltrating refugees and criminal gangs.
