Afghans protests against Pakistan; slogans call for destruction of Pakistan

Kabul/Peshawar – The Afghans held a protest in various cities against Pakistan with slogans of ‘Pakistan’s meddling in Afghanistan, will not be tolerated.’, ‘ISI should get out of their country.’ ‘Pakistan should be destroyed’ and ‘Freedom from Pakistan’. The protesters strongly demanded an inclusive government in Afghanistan and not the one that dances to Pakistan’s tune. Hundreds of Afghans protested the visit of Faiz Hameed, the head of Pakistan’s ISI, to Afghanistan. Faiz Hameed has been accused of interfering in the formation of the Afghan government.

For the past few days, there have been protests by Afghan women in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The women protesting in front of the presidential residence demand the inclusion of women and other minority representation in the formation of the new Taliban government. In the first two days, Taliban militants used tear gas and physically assaulted the protesters. Videos and photographs of this has been released.

In the past two days, the protests have intensified in Kabul, Herat, and Balkh. The protests have erupted due to Pakistani intelligence chief Faiz Hameed’s presence in Afghanistan. Besides, this is against the medalling to increase the Haqqani network’s influence in forming the Taliban government.

Meanwhile, Northern Alliance chief Ahmed Masood accused the Pakistan Air Force of carrying out drone strikes in the ongoing conflict in Panjshir. On Monday, Masood also called on the Afghan people to take to the streets to protest against the Taliban and Pakistan’s intervention.

By Tuesday, hundreds of Afghans had gathered in Panjshir, Kabul, Herat and Balkh to protest against Pakistan. A video released shows a large number of Afghan men took part in the protest. In Kabul, the Afghan people protesting at the Pakistani embassy demanded the expulsion of Pakistani officials and to impose sanctions on Pakistan.

Taliban militants opened fire in the air to disperse protesters. A photograph of a terrorist pulling a rifle on a protesting woman has been released. One of the videos suggests few protesters have been dumped in a bank building. Similar protests in front of the Pakistani embassy in Iran are also reported.
