Afghan security forces kill 33 Taliban terrorists

Kabul: – In the last 24 hours, 33 Taliban terrorists have reportedly been killed in action taken by the Afghan security forces. The Afghan security forces have also seized major arms and ammunition haul during the operation. Taliban launched attacks in 28 of the 34 Afghan provinces. Thereafter, the security forces initiated a major action. A fierce encounter was going on between the security forces and Taliban since Wednesday night in the Kunduz province. A violent conflict also was triggered in Faryab, Helmand and Uruzgan provinces. These Taliban terrorists were killed in these conflicts, and many others were injured.

On Saturday night, eight Taliban terrorists were killed, and 14 were injured in the conflict which flared up with the security forces in the Kaisar district of the Faryab province. The security forces seized IEDs and disarmed them. The Afghan Defence Ministry announced that ten terrorists were killed in an airstrike in the Helmand province on Saturday night.  

Eleven IEDs planted by the Taliban terrorists on the highway in the city of Lashkargah were disabled by the security forces. Within the next few hours, on Sunday morning, the Taliban targeted a post of the security forces in the Uruzgan province. Twelve Taliban terrorists were killed in the retaliation of the Afghan security forces. Even in the Balkh province, a similar encounter ensued after a Taliban attack and three terrorists were killed in the encounter.  

In the last 50 days, 261 locals have been killed in the Taliban attacks. It is also claimed that nearly 2,000 Taliban terrorists have been killed or injured in the same period. Meanwhile, the United Nations had expressed concerns over the violence in Afghanistan. The United States has initiated the process of military withdrawal from Afghanistan. But because of the increasing violence in Afghanistan, India can make the United States change its decision. The senior US military officials had opposed complete withdrawal from Afghanistan.
