Afghan forces kill 35 Taliban militants 

Kabul: – 35 Taliban terrorists were killed in the encounter between the Afghan Armed Forces and Taliban, over the last 24 hours. The Afghan Armed Force officials said that these included senior Taliban commanders. The Taliban attacks have increased in Afghanistan, since the starting of peace talks in Qatar, between the Afghan government and Taliban. At the same time, the Afghan Armed Force also has intensified its action against the Taliban. The intensifying conflict is spreading panic in the ordinary Afghan citizens.

Taliban attacked a post of the security forces in the Ghazni province. The Taliban terrorists had planned to take over the post and start a major mission after that. But six terrorists were killed on the spot, in the fierce retaliation of the Afghan Armed Forces. Whereas, 15 Taliban terrorists were killed in an airstrike carried out by the Afghan air force. Weapons, cars and motorcycles of the Taliban were destroyed in the airstrike. The Taliban attacked a police checkpoint in the DarahSof district of Samangan province. 14 terrorists were killed and 12 were injured in the retaliatory police firing.   

The Taliban have started a spate of attacks in the 10 provinces of Afghanistan after the Qatar discussion gained momentum. 19 citizens have been reportedly killed in the Taliban attacks, in the last 10 days. Therefore, a feeling of insecurity prevails in the Afghan population. The Afghan population is opposing these peace talks with the Taliban. As per a survey, 75% of the Afghan population is against the inclusion of the Taliban, in the political process. Taliban clarified that it would not declare a ceasefire unless the Afghan security forces stop their action against it. Taliban reasoned that as per the talks in Qatar, the Taliban could reduce the attacks. Whereas, the Afghan government also clarified that the action against the Taliban would not stop.   

Meanwhile, as the conflict continues between the Taliban and the Afghan government, Zalmay Khalilzad, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan, said that the bloodshed would not stop suddenly. Taliban will not agree to a ceasefire unless a solution is found to the political problem in Afghanistan. As per the Taliban, it will reduce violence during the discussions. Khalilzad said that the situation is not different even in the other conflicts. Therefore, Khalilzad has indicated that peace talks and violence, both will continue in Afghanistan.
