Union government distributes 50,000 ‘Made in India’ ventilators to states  

New Delhi: The Union government informed that 50,000 ventilators would be manufactured under the ‘Make in India’ campaign and these ventilators will soon be distributed to the states and union territories. A provision of ₹20 billion has been made from the ‘PM Cares Fund’ for this purpose.

The number of Coronavirus cases has increased to 440,000. In view of the increasing numbers the government is making the necessary facilities available in the hospitals. Isolation centres are being developed. Railway coaches are being converted to isolation coaches. Every State is taking necessary steps as per the situation. Although isolation centres are being developed, there is going to be a need for ventilators and hence ventilators will be manufactured on a large scale.   

Soon these ventilators will be distributed to the government COVID-19 hospitals in the states and union territories. Bharat Electronics will manufacture 30,000 out of the 50,000 ventilators. 10,000 ventilators will be manufactured by Agva Healthcare, 5,650 by AMTZ Basic, 4,000 by ATMZ High End and Allied Medical will manufacture 350 ventilators.  

Till date 2,923 ventilators have been manufactured and 1,340 of these have been distributed to states and union territories. 275 ventilators, each, have been supplied to Maharashtra and Delhi, in view of the increasing number of Coronavirus cases. Along with these 175 ventilators have been provided to Gujarat, 100 to Bihar, 90 to Karnataka and 75 to Rajasthan. By the end of June additional 14,000 ventilators will be distributed to states and union territories.
