Only last week, US President Donald Trump declared that talks with the Taliban, carrying out terrorist attacks, are not possible. The Taliban consistently carried out attacks, even during the subsistence of talks with the United States. Now, that the talks have been scrapped, the Taliban has further increased the extent of its attacks.

More than 50 killed in violence in AfghanistanTaliban, threatening to disrupt the elections to be held on 28th September, targeted the election rally of Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, on Monday. This was followed up with an attack on the administrative building in Jalalabad. A hospital in Zabul region was targeted on Thursday. The explosion at Kalat in southern Afghanistan claimed at least 20 lives and more than 90 people were injured.

Taliban has accepted the responsibility of these attacks and has warned to intensify the attacks further. While the number of people being killed in the Taliban attacks is increasing, 30 people were killed in the US drone attack in Nangarhar province. The attack was carried out to target the IS terrorists, but it is said that the peasants and workers were killed in the attack, as the drone landed in a field nearby.

A strong reaction has been received about this attack, at the local level. Although the Afghan sources have confirmed this attack, the United States has not given any reaction. A few months ago, the United Nations had published a report about the increasing violence in Afghanistan. The report said that the common people of Afghanistan are the worst affected, by the conflict and clarified that the number of casualties, among them,is the highest.
