PM lays foundation stone for ₹ 38,000 crores development projects in Mumbai – Two metro lines inaugurated

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Mumbai on Thursday, laid the foundation stone of projects worth ₹ 38,000 crores in Mumbai. Also, the Prime Minister inaugurated two metro lines in Mumbai. On this occasion, the Prime Minister said the nation’s audacity to see and realise grand dreams. Also, the Prime Minister informed that the country’s cities were the engine of development, and the government was focusing on the infrastructure development in these cities. Along with PM Modi, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present at the function organised at BKC.

The Prime Minister claimed that this shows the commitment to developing India. Simultaneously, the Prime Minister briefed about the development projects being implemented for Mumbai. At the same time, the Prime Minister also expressed confidence that cities will serve as engines of India’s economic growth in the years to come. For this reason, the Prime Minister highlighted that infrastructure in cities was a matter of great importance. Also, the Prime Minister clarified that the Central Government was making all efforts for this.

PM Modi has said that a multifaceted transport system has been prioritised in all the country’s cities. The Prime Minister inaugurated Metro Line 2A and Metro Line 7 in Mumbai. It has been claimed that the project worth about ₹ 12,600 crores will reduce the stress on Mumbai’s traffic to a great extent and make it more convenient for Mumbaikars to travel. In addition, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a project to process sewage worth over ₹ 26,000 crores. The projects will be set up at Malad, Bhandup, Versova, Ghatkopar, Bandra, Dharavi and Worli. Moreover, the Prime Minister laid the foundation of multi-speciality hospitals at three locations in Mumbai. These hospitals will be raised in Bhandup, Goregaon and Oshiwara.

Along with this, about 400 kilometres of the roads in Mumbai will be concretised, and the project worth about ₹ 6100 crores will solve the problem of potholes in Mumbai’s streets. Besides, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal will be upgraded, and the Prime Minister has also inaugurated the work. A provision of about ₹1800 crores has been made for this purpose.
