Friday, late night, the Afghan air force launched attacks in the Wurduj District of Badakhshan Province in northern Afghanistan. The security agencies received a tip that the local Taliban leader, Kari Haider, was hiding there. 26 Taliban terrorists along with Kari Haider were killed in the action of the Afghan military. The Afghan military officials said that a huge arms haul was seized and a Taliban command centre and six posts were destroyed in action.

A few hours before this action, Taliban terrorists had attacked the Afghan security agencies in the Herat province near the Iran border. The Afghan security agencies’ bases in the Koshan and Ghorian districts were devastated in the Taliban attacks. 13 soldiers were killed in the attack, and the Taliban claims that 22 soldiers were abducted. But the Afghan security agencies said that nine soldiers were killed. Reports of Taliban carrying out attacks on the Afghan military in the Nangarhar province are also being received.

Since the last few days, the conflict between the Afghan military and Taliban has intensified. At the same time, the Taliban is also targeting Afghan civilians. Western media are claiming an increase in the Taliban attacks since the signing of the peace deal with the United States. In the last year, the Taliban has carried out 92 suicide attacks and 2,174 attacks using IEDs. Taliban has also perpetrated 497 murders. As per received information, 1,883 people, including 90 religious leaders, have been killed in these Taliban attacks. The Afghan government informed that 4,174 people were injured in the Taliban attacks.

The Taliban attacks are not limited to the Afghan security agencies and people. Whereas, Taliban seems to have started attacking the US military deployed in Afghanistan. Two days ago, rocket attacks were launched on the US airbase in Kandahar. John Kirby, the spokesman of US military headquarters Pentagon, denounced the attacks in strong words. But Kirby dodged whether the Taliban has violated the ceasefire agreed a year ago with these attacks.

Last year, the United States and Taliban signed a peace deal in the Qatari capital of Doha. The agreement ended in March, and the Taliban had given the United States a deadline of 1st of May to withdraw its military from Afghanistan. Taliban has threatened that fierce attacks will be launched on the US and NATO military if the armies are not withdrawn before that date. Taliban seems to have sent a reminder to the United States with this attack on the airbase.
