24 workers lose their lives in a terrifying accident in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: 24 workers lost their lives in an accident in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh when two trucks carrying passengers dashed onto one another. More than 20 workers have got injured in this accident. These workers were travelling to their hometowns from Rajasthan and New Delhi. On Saturday, the incident took place at dawn. One of these trucks is said to have more than 50 workers. Over the last four days, 40 workers have had to lose their lives in various road accidents that have happened in different places.

The truck, travelling with workers, from Delhi to Bihar via Kanpur halted at a Dhaba in Auraiya for tea. At the time, another truck that was carrying worker-passengers from Rajasthan rammed into this truck. The impact of the thrust was too much- both vehicles toppled and fell into the ditch at the corner of the road. 24 workers died of suffocation after the truck toppled. Whereas, more than 20 got injured. The worker-passengers in the truck with Rajasthan’s number plate were from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The injured have been admitted in the nearby hospital, as informed the district-head of Auraiya.

The frequency of accidents is said to have increased because passengers from Faridabad and Delhi travel through this route. UP CM, Yogi Adityanath, has ordered an investigation and assured to provide aid in all means possible. The workers in India are catching the rides to their hometown at the earliest, ever since the government declared lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But this alternative is proving to be deadly. Over the last few days, more than 40 workers lost their lives in accidents that took place in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
